Inspired by a favorite honey sesame fried chicken dish, this Maple Garlic Tempeh is a vegan, high-protein alternative. It's crispy, sticky, salty, and packed with nutrition, perfect for a weekly meal.
Preheat oven to 350F and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Cut your tempeh into cubes and add to a small bowl. Toss tempeh cubes with 1 tsp oil and 1 tsp arrowroot starch or cornstarch. Spread evenly across a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes, or until crispy. Once tempeh is done baking set aside and make your sauce: To a medium low hot pan add sesame oil and garlic. Sautee garlic for 2 minutes before adding all the remaining ingredients. Cook until it starts to thicken and bubble, 2-3 minutes. Add tempeh and continue to cook until tempeh and sauce are one!
