A high-protein, plant-based recipe for delicious burger patties made from lentils, caramelized onions, and seeds. Each patty contains 191 calories, 5g fat, 28g carbs, and 10g protein, with instructions for preparing and baking 15 patties.
1. Cook your lentils & peas, then set them aside.
2. Caramelize your onions: Add olive oil to a pan, coating the bottom. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt and sauté for 15 minutes on medium-low heat.
3. Add balsamic vinegar and coconut sugar to the onions, mix well, and cook for another 10-15 minutes until caramelized.
4. To a high-speed blender, add the cooked lentils, caramelized onions, nut/seed mix, and your chosen seasonings.
5. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
6. In a bowl, combine the blended mixture with the flour and the flax meal/water mixture (which should have gelled after 5 minutes in the fridge).
7. Using your hands, mix everything until just combined.
8. Form the mixture into 15 patties.
9. Stack the patties in a freezer-safe container, using parchment paper squares between each patty to prevent sticking.
10. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the patties for 15 minutes, then flip them and bake for another 5 minutes.
